On October 6 to 8, Kuzbass hosted the “Coal Industry – New Realities” forum, which brought together representatives of the coal mining industry and the scientific community from different regions of our country and from abroad. The forum took place at several venues, including the T.F. Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University, where the International Scientific and Practical Symposium "Carbon: from coal to diamond" was held.
19 reports were presented at the event. In their speeches, the speakers drew attention to the issues of the ESG agenda, talked about the peculiarities of coal mining in areas with difficult terrain, raised the issue of the efficiency of mining equipment, and also discussed plans for further cooperation with foreign colleagues and guests from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Among the foreign speakers were representatives of China and Uzbekistan.
In his report, the rector of KuzSTU Alexei Yakovlev presented the scientific and technical centers of the university, which can serve as drivers of the technological development of the Kuzbass industry. Among them: the center of children's scientific and engineering creativity "UnikUm" for students in grades 5 to 11; the center of engineering and reverse engineering, where students can be trained in robotics; the center for creating new technologies, which includes the work of youth research laboratories, and others. Alexey Yakovlev spoke in detail about each of them, drawing attention to the projects being implemented by each center together with the partners of the university.
KuzSTU is the largest university that trains specialists in the field of the coal mining industry. It provides the main human resources in this industry in our region and beyond, and also specialists for related industries,” said Alexey Yakovlev.
Irina Ganieva, Kuzbass Minister of Science and Higher Education, noted that holding such events is a prerequisite for a qualitative discussion on the development of the coal industry. According to her, the discussion of scientific developments and the exchange of experience with colleagues is the right step towards solving the problems that are most acute in the coal mining industry today.
