Anniversary and Housewarming: KuzSTU Opens the Doors of Renovated Dormitory No. 3

On September 9, Kuzbass State Technical University celebrated its 75th anniversary. The first gift to mark the occasion was the grand opening of the renovated student dormitory No. 3 – the second to be renovated.

The event was attended by distinguished guests: representatives of regional and city authorities, heads of construction companies, universities from Kemerovo and Donbass, and KuzSTU graduates.

After the congratulations, the ceremonial moment began: the ribbon cutting at the entrance to the renovated dormitory and the presentation of a symbolic key to the new student residence.

The building is designed to accommodate approximately 800 students. During the renovation, the roof, utility lines, and windows were completely replaced, new floors and ceilings were installed, and the façade was updated, now featuring bright, warm hues. Students received not just rooms, but modern mini-apartments: comfortable beds with new mattresses, a personal desk, nightstand, closet, and shelves, as well as a private bathroom with a shower. Elevators, which had been idle for the past 30 years, now take them to the next floor.

Each floor has spacious kitchens with stoves, range hoods, refrigerators, and microwaves. A laundry room with modern washers and dryers is located on the ground floor. Special rooms with adapted furniture and an SOS system have been created for students with disabilities.

Particular attention was paid to spaces for socializing and studying. A psychologist's room has been added to the campus, and coworking spaces with relaxing areas are located on each floor.

The celebration concluded with the traditional tree planting: a green alley will now grow near the dormitory, a symbol of renewal and growth. KuzSTU's anniversary is only just gaining momentum, and new celebrations and openings await the university.
