Kuzbass State Technical University acted as a platform for holding the XI International Russian-Kazakhstan symposium "Coal chemistry and ecology of Kuzbass". The best scientists from Kuzbass, other regions and countries united to discuss the most pressing issues and solve priority tasks.
The representatives of both the scientific elite and the state authorities and industrial enterprises attended the symposium, including Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon, Director of the Department of the Coal Industry of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation Petr Bobylev, General Director of the Sino-Russian Technopark Li Yongping, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kuzbass Irina Ganieva, General Director of JSC SUEK-Kuzbass Nikolay Kigalov, and others.
Under the current conditions in the country, the future of coal becomes an urgent problem. Coal mining is a fundamental activity for Kuzbass and other regions of Russia, so we need to think about how not to reduce production, given the export barriers. It's great that the Kazakh and Chinese representatives take an active part in the symposium. I hope this event will make it possible to establish productive contacts between the participants and reveal real solutions to the problems that we face, - said Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon.
One of the main topics for discussion was the implementation in Kuzbass of a comprehensive scientific and technical program of the full innovation cycle "Clean Coal - Green Kuzbass", which was launched not least because of the activity of the Kuzbass Research and Education Center. For three years now, the Kuzbass REC has being showing high performance. From the moment of its establishment in 2019, the number of contracts between REC participants (universities, research institutes and business companies) has tripled, REC participants are actively involved in attracting federal funding. For example, KuzSTU has already won twice in the major scientific competition for the creation of high-tech industries.
This symposium is a key event within the framework of the REC "Kuzbass" program. All eyes are now fixed on the Clean Coal - Green Kuzbass Program, which is the only one of its kind in Russia. This Program is devoted exclusively to the problems of the coal industry, including the problems of coal chemistry and ecology, which are at the forefront of our symposium, - Minister of Science and Higher Education Irina Ganieva spoke
Discussing the current situation in coal chemistry and ecology, the participants have agreed that not only well-established funding, but also work on legal regulation will help move forward in solving the problems. The acute issue of training personnel for the coal industry, where there is a shortage of specialists has also been addressed.
We are glad that this symposium is held within the walls of our university, where you can find both young people and the competencies necessary to discuss and solve the problems of such an important program as Clean Coal - Green Kuzbass. Of course, young people should be involved in such events so that they understand the problems of modern science and production. Thus, scientists will be able to transfer their knowledge to young people and create conditions for their development in the workplace. Kuzbass Polytechnic University is always open for such symposia and not only, - said Alexei Yakovlev, rector of KuzSTU.
Three busy days of the symposium include several dozen reports on a variety of topics, united by coal chemistry and ecology. A total of 106 people are taking part. Alexei Kontorovich, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, devoted his speech to the strategic problems of the development of the coal and coal chemical industry of Kuzbass in the light of modern global and Russian threats and challenges. Aleksey Emilievich came to the conclusion that global coal consumption should and will grow despite all restrictions, and Kuzbass needs to reasonably increase coal production by introducing new energy-efficient, high-performance and environmentally sound technologies and equipment, while promoting the ecological recovery of the region.
