The 5th International Mechanical Engineering Case Study Championship was held on April 14-15 in Zhodino, Belarus. This large-scale event brought together the best students from technical universities in three countries to demonstrate their professional skills and knowledge in mechanical engineering. Ten teams from Russia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan participated in the competition.
A five-member delegation traveled to Belarus to represent KuzSTU: students Dmitry Kuzmich, Egor Petrov, and Vladimir Dodonov, as well as Andrei Kudrevatykh, Head of the Automobile Operations Department, and Associate Professor Mikhail Dodonov.
The department head's choice of these students was no accident. The students have great potential and have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to solve complex problems.
At the championship, participants experienced intense competition at all levels. The jury assessed the quality of the presentations, the presentation of the material, and the teams' overall performance. Enterprise managers, engineers, and leading designers professionally reviewed each proposed solution for its applicability to real-world design work.
The Kuzbass State Technical University team's success was largely due to the fact that the project was developed from a design perspective, not a design one. This approach was highly appreciated by the panel of judges and the BelAZ design bureau. In the first case, which focused on improving engine thermal performance, we were awarded the Grand Prix for the best approach and project. Overall, Kuzbass Polytechnic University placed second.
