On December 9, 2024, the final of the XII season of the Autumn Cup of the International Engineering Championship “CASE-IN” took place on the site of the Moscow cluster “Lomonosov”. Experts from Russia's leading industries considered 63 promising solutions for implementing lean manufacturing principles and considered the Kuzbass Polytechnic teams as the best.
22 strongest teams met in the final of the largest league of the championship - the student league. The industry-wide task was prepared by ALROSA: to develop an optimal logistics model for fuel supply, ensuring the achievement of equilibrium price and economic efficiency until 2029.
KuzSTU team “Kuzbass eXpressO” (Anastasia Ustyuzhanina, Yaroslav Avdeev, Mikhail Luzin - Institute of Power Engineering and Elizaveta Fil - Institute of Chemical and Oil and Gas Technologies, supervisor - Ivan Paskar, senior lecturer of the Department of Electrical Supply of Mining and Industrial Enterprises) became the absolute winner of the championship. The students defended a unique solution - delivery of fuel for the company's enterprises by airships.
Using the solution of KuzSTU students, the company will be able to reduce logistics costs. Among other things, the team gave recommendations on the implementation of the 1C system: “Warehouse accounting of fuel and lubricants”, as well as on the replacement of mechanical measuring devices with electronic ones to reduce the error of devices when taking readings from tanks.
16 finalist teams of the school league solved the case of SEZ “Alabuga”, on the creation of the production of printed circuit boards. The high school students studied the tools of lean manufacturing, evaluated the economic efficiency of the plant construction and proposed solutions that increase the productivity of the enterprise, as well as safety for employees and the environment.
Two teams of the “Kemerovo” Talent Center, created in KuzSTU with the full support of the Melnichenko Foundation, were among the leaders. The first place was taken by the guys from “Kuzbass Energy” (Kirill Rudyakov, Yaroslava Khlystun, Alexander Petrov – City Classical Lyceum, Alexander Denisov – School №14, the head – Tatiana Mamzina, the head of the Engineering School “Unicum”), and the silver medalist was the team “innovators” (Daria Bukhtiyarova – Lyceum No. 62, Yegor Beresnev, Gordey Kozlov – School No. 14, Daniil Latyshenko – School No. 84, supervisor – Elizaveta Kartashova, postgraduate student of the Institute of Power Engineering).
Winners and medalists of the “CASE-IN” student league will be able to enter master's and postgraduate programs on preferential terms, undergo internships and traineeships in leading industry companies with the possibility of subsequent employment. The best students will receive additional USE points when entering universities – partners of the championship.
The organizers of the International Engineering Championship “CASE-IN” are the “Reliable Change” Foundation, Non-profit Partnership “Youth Forum of Mining Leaders” and OOO “AstraLogica”. The championship is implemented within the framework of the federal project “Social Lifts for Everyone” of the national project “Education” and is included in the initiative “Science to Win” and in the plan of the Decade of Science and Technology.
