19 January 2025

The Kuzbass State Technical University hosted the defense of graduation qualification works of students from Uzbekistan, who studied under the joint educational program “2+3” in the direction of “Mining Engineering” (specialization “Mine and underground construction”). The future engineers mastered general disciplines in their native university - Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, and then came to Russia for a deeper study of their profession.

This is the first program implemented in this way at the Mining Institute. The representatives of Tashkent State Technical University gave rather high assessments about the training of engineers. Seven students reached the defense, and the main difficulty for them was the language load. They studied Russian language in their home country, also in the curriculum of KuzSTU there was a discipline “Russian as a foreign language”. Topics for defense arose during practical training at Uzbek enterprises, one more student had an industrial practice in a design organization of Kemerovo city. All the students also received a working profession - miner - said Yury Drozdenko, the group's supervisor, associate professor of the Department of Mining Machines and Complexes.

The defense of foreign students was assessed by teachers of the Mining Institute, as well as representatives of the partner university: Sunnatulla Gaipnazarov, Dean of the Faculty of Geological Exploration and Metallurgy, and Odiljon Khayitov, Head of the Department of Mining Engineering. The scientific topics were related to the actual problems of mining industry: design, reconstruction and construction of underground facilities. The reports were accompanied by visual materials, including schemes, drawings and graphs, which allowed to present key solutions and conclusions in a visual form.

Graduates of the joint educational program have successfully defended their works and will now receive diplomas of the two universities. Kuzbass Polytechnic and Tashkent State Technical University signed a cooperation agreement in 2017, and today they are actively working on expanding areas of cooperation. The parties discussed further opportunities for the development of programs during the visit of the delegation.
