11 graduate students from China are preparing to defend their PhD theses

11 postgraduate students from Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences returned to Kuzbass Polytech to continue their studies under the joint network program. Guests from the People's Republic of China met with the rector of KuzSTU Alexey Yakovlev to discuss further plans.

Since 2020 KuzSTU and CUAS have been cooperating in the fields of education, science and innovative technologies. In 2021, the universities started joint education of Chinese postgraduate students in three areas: “Inorganic Chemistry”, ‘Mechanical Engineering Technology’, ‘Mining Machines’. The training period is three years: two in their home country and one in Kuzbass.

Last year the postgraduate students had a summer internship: they studied Russian language in Sheregesh, got acquainted with the sights of the region, and started writing their PhD theses under the scientific supervision of KuzSTU professors. To date, active preparation for the defense of works continues.

For example, under the guidance of Ivan Chicherin, head of the Department of Information and Automated Production Systems, postgraduate student Yang Yan is working on the development of a robot for the automated collection of shoots in tea plantations. The girl will present a virtual prototype of the executive device for the defense of her work.
