Kuzbass Polytechnic continues to modernize its campus, one of the objects is the student park at the intersection of Michurina and Sibiryakov-Gvardeitsev Streets, next to the university dormitories. Here trees and flowers have already been planted, lighting has been installed, swings and summerhouses, benches and sports equipment have been installed. Such transformation of the park was made possible thanks to the support of the Kemerovo City Administration. And recently, a sculpture of Shurik and Lidochka, the heroes of the popular Soviet movie "Operation "Y", has appeared.
The two-meter sculpture is made of bronze: the characters are studying hard for an exam, just like in Leonid Gaidai's movie scene. The Shurik and Lidochka monument can be found in other cities, such as in Prokopyevsk, Krasnodar, Ryazan, and Moscow. It might bring good luck to Kemerovo students in their studies.
The modernization of KuzSTU became a part of the program of socio-economic development of Kuzbass until 2024, approved by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. In total, about 71 billion rubles are planned for the implementation of the program, including 2 billion rubles for the modernization of the university. Last year dormitory No. 4 was opened after major repairs. By the end of the year, it is also planned to complete the renovation of academic building No. 4 and dormitory No. 3.
