Bachelors Twice: Students from China Complete the First Semester at KuzSTU under the "2+2" Program

12 January 2024

Last October, eight students from Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences arrived to study at the Institute of Power Engineering of KuzSTU. The universities conduct joint training of bachelors in the educational program "Industrial Electronics – Electroniс Informatics". The first semester passed quickly and productively, yesterday students from China passed the first exam in Russia in the discipline "Modeling of electronic devices".

“We have a fully developed joint curriculum with CUAS. The main difficulty of education is the language barrier. By practicing at KuzSTU, Chinese students will improve their Russian language skills in technical terms. Even at exams, teachers rarely use English for clarification. The students gradually adapt and get used to the speech: someone already knows Russian language quite well and can even maintain a conversation, and someone still has everything ahead of them”, – shared Alexander Grigoriev, group supervisor, associate professor of the Electric Drive and Automation Department.

The students studied at CUAS for the first two years and afterwards became full-fledged third-year students of the Kuzbass Polytech. Together with their Russian classmates, they receive specialized knowledge in industrial electronics. The only difference in the educational program is that the Chinese students attend Russian language electives.

In 2020, an agreement was signed between KuzSTU and CUAS on joint preparation of bachelors of the field of education "Electronics and nanoelectronics", in 2021 the first enrollment of students took place: they studied for two years in the PRC, and then from 2023 – in the city of Kemerovo.

Upon successful completion of training, Chinese students will receive two diplomas: a bachelor's diploma of the standard established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, issued by KuzSTU and a bachelor's diploma issued by CUAS.
