For several years Т. F. Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University has been in close international cooperation with educational institutions of the People's Republic of China. Together with foreign partners the university implements long-term and short-term educational programs. This time the delegation of Kuzbass State Technical University went to Chongqing, Kunming and Suzhou to discuss the prospects of cooperation with foreign colleagues. Rector of KuzSTU Alexey Yakovlev and representatives of the faculty of the university met with the heads of Chinese universities and colleges to discuss plans for the development of international educational projects.

The first stop on the business trip was Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences – a partner of ours since 2020. Here there was also a solemn meeting with the participants and co-organizers of the "3+1" educational program in the field of education "Metalworking machines and complexes". According to this program Chinese students will study in their home country for three years, and the last year they will spend in Kuzbass defending their final qualification work. After successfully completing their studies, the Chinese students will receive two diplomas: a bachelor's diploma of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, issued by KuzSTU, and a bachelor's diploma issued by CUAS.

At Chongqing University, the Kuzbass delegation met not only with the university administration, but also with the students. 88 students who have already been studying for a year under the international educational program and 86 students who are just taking entrance examination to become the participants of the "3+1" program attended the event. At the moment the future students of KuzSTU have passed exams in mathematics and Russian language, on September 27 they will take an exam in physics.

“The students are very interesting and disciplined. They ask relevant questions about life and education in Russia and eagerly listen about our university. The meeting with students was held in a friendly and pleasant atmosphere”, – says Inna Pevneva, Head of International Cooperation Department of KuzSTU.

Also as a part of the visit to Chongqing, the rector of KuzSTU and members of the delegation met with Song Wen, deputy head of the district administration and a member of the Standing Committee of Yunchuan District, visited the Western Vocational Education Center, Chongqing Water Conservancy and Electric Power Vocational and Technical College, as well as Chongqing University of Municipal Economy.

“Yongchuan is establishing a second group of government experimental cities that combine industry and education in their territory. Their purpose is to promote the high-quality development of vocational education and accelerate the establishment of "Engineer City".It is necessary to build a "new professional education city" to accelerate the development of high-quality professional education institutions within the country, establish manufacturing and education enterprises, small business and innovative enterprise support centers, and continue to optimize the structure of professional education”, – said Song Wen.

Rector of KuzSTU expressed the hopes of Kuzbass Governor Sergey Tsivilev to deepen cooperation between the city of Kemerovo and Chongqing (Yongchuan) in the fields of education, science and technology, economy and trade. He also noted that both organizations should combine their strengths and resources to carry out effective business cooperation.

On the next visit the delegation from Kuzbass went to Kunming University of Science and Technology. There, Alexey Yakovlev, Rector of KuzSTU, and Tatiana Cherkasova, Director of the Institute of Chemical, Oil and Gas Technologies, became participants of the international conference held on the basis of Kunming University of Science and Technology and presented their reports.

Representatives of Kuzbass Polytechnic got acquainted not only with the life of foreign universities and colleges, but also with the enterprises of China. The delegation visited several metallurgical plants, and the «Yadi» plant, where scooters, motorcycles and other means of transportation are manufactured.

“The «Yadi» factory has its own college where they educate employees for their enterprise. This is a prime example of how industry can interact with education. We talked to the college management, they are interested in working with the Russian university, we hope for further cooperation”, – says Inna Pevneva.
