A delegation from the People's Republic of China arrived in Kuzbass State Technical University to discuss matters of international cooperation. On August 28, guests from Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST) arrived in Kuzbass, the purpose of their visit is to exchange experience and establish partnership relations, particularly with the Institute of Economics and Management of Kuzbass Polytechnic.
KuzSTU has a long-standing friendship with Shandong University of Science and Technology. The first agreement between the institutes was signed in 1991. It provided for mutual exchange of teachers for lecturing, joint training of candidates of sciences and masters, exchange of students, textbooks and scientific literature. The joint work of the universities proved to be effective, and the first experience of cooperation gave rise to a long-term partnership with colleagues from China.
For several decades, universities have been training engineers for the mining industry; this year, for the first time, they decided to cooperate for the first time in educating future specialists in economics and management.
“We came to your university to discuss two subjects. The first one is about establishing cooperation on the basis of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The second subject we would like to discuss is joint education of masters and doctors of science” – says Hou Guisheng, Director of the Institute of Economics and Management of SDUST.
Colleagues from China discussed plans for further cooperation between universities with Yulia Yakunina, Director of the Institute of Economics and Management of KuzSTU. During the meeting it was proposed to launch short educational programs, which would allow students from China to come to Russia and Russian students to study in the People's Republic of China. It is assumed that the students will study some economic discipline in a university abroad for several weeks.
At the moment, colleagues from China are primarily interested in the development of a joint educational program for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The issue of organizing industrial practice for students from abroad on the basis of existing enterprises was also discussed.
During the meeting guests from the People's Republic of China were also acquainted with the university. The professors of SDUST visited the M. P. Novozhilov Historical Museum, where they learned about the history of the university, its scientific, social and art activities. Kirill Kostikov, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation of KuzSTU, told the foreign partners about the university's life today. He shared with the guests the successes in space related work, told about research in the field of robotics and digital technologies, and also about the modernization of the campus and current areas of education.
