On August 8, a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council under the Governor of Kuzbass was held, which was attended by representatives of universities, scientific institutes and the business community of the region. Its purpose is to consider initiative projects for further inclusion in the complex scientific and technical program of the full innovation cycle «Clean Coal – Green Kuzbass», implemented by the Scientific and Educational Center «Kuzbass».
“The Kuzbass Research and Education Center is the main tool for implementing innovative projects. We now have a unique opportunity for the development and implementation of new technologies. We should use it as effectively as possible and work for the final result. It is strategically important to implement all ideas and developments of our scientists and engineers as quickly as possible”, – said the Governor of the Kemerovo region Sergey Tsivilyov.
KuzSTU as a participant of the Scientific and Educational Center «Kuzbass» presented a number of projects dedicated to the creation of new products and technologies for mining and processing of solid mineral resources.
The scientists of Kuzbass Polytechnic Institute offer to replace wood, metal and concrete used at mines with polymer composites on the basis of thermosetting binders. The application of composites will allow to reduce energy consumption of production, transportation and installation costs, and also to increase operational characteristics of the mine equipment.
The project «Development and creation of a high-tech serial production of a shearer» will meet the needs of coal mining enterprises in Kuzbass, as currently no shearers are produced in Russia. The developed shearer will have improved characteristics, modern control system, adaptability and increased reliability, which will lead to efficiency and safety of coal mining.
The project «Utilization of rubber wastes produced due to tire wear from large-tonnage transport of coal mines of Kuzbass enterprises by producing asphalt concrete mixtures based on bituminous binders modified with rubber crumbs» assumes that production of such asphalt concrete mixtures will increase the durability of road surfaces, reduce the cost of road repair and maintenance and solve the problem of rubber waste utilization, contributing to environmental efficiency.
Creation of the unit within the framework of the project «Development of cost-effective modular unit for drying of fine coal after its preparation» will increase the competitiveness of marketable products by achieving the required moisture content of steam and coking coals, as well as solve the problem of coal freezing during the cold season.
KuzSTU together with the Federal Research Center of Coal and Coal Chemistry, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences will also develop technology for the production of carbon-containing sorbents from D, DG, G grades of steam coal for the removal of pollutants from water and gas environments. The created pilot plant will lead to increase of purification efficiency and reduction of expenses for purchase of expensive foreign sorbents.
As a result of the discussion, the Scientific and Technical Council under the Governor of Kuzbass supported the projects proposed by KuzSTU. As part of the complex scientific and technical program «Clean Coal – Green Kuzbass», Kuzbass Polytech continues to work on three projects for the financing of which 485 million rubles have been allocated. These include:
«Complex coal processing with obtaining a new type of raw material for carbon fiber production» is the development of industrial technology for obtaining fiber-forming pecks from coal tar of PAO «Koks» which will solve the problems of deficit of raw materials for carbon fiber production;
«Complex processing of coal mining and coal processing wastes with separation of rare and rare-earth elements» is the expansion of the field of application of ash and slag wastes generated during combustion of coal and coal mining wastes;
«Development and creation of an unmanned shuttle-type mining dump truck with a payload capacity of 220 tons» is the digital transformation of machine-building and mining enterprises.
