KuzSTU Team Wind Mountain – the Winner of the International Engineering Championship "Case-IN"

Wind Mountain team of T.F. Gorbachev Kuzbass State Technical University took first place in the final of the Case-IN International Engineering Championship. For the second year in a row, students took first place in their field – "Mining machinery and equipment”. Anastasia Sokhareva, Bobur Abdullaev and Natalia Volynkina successfully completed the case and will be back home with a victory very soon.

This year, students were offered engineering tasks related to artificial intelligence, calculation, data transmission, robotics and industrial technology. Using digital technology, students needed to reduce the time needed to maintain the dump trucks on a shift while increasing the efficiency of their operations.

The key difference between our solution and others is a comprehensive approach, which allowed not only to effectively solve the task, but also to increase the level of safety while working with quarry equipment. “We managed to reduce the impact of human factor, increase the comfort for maintenance workers, as well as conduct a thorough economic analysis of the solutions we suggest”, – says Evgeny Kuzin, supervisor of Wind Mountain team and head of scientific and technical development department of KuzSTU branch in Prokopyevsk. In the final of the championship students not only successfully defended the solutions of engineering cases, but also took part in an intensive business program. The students met with representatives of leading mining companies and attended events organized by the "Reliable Change" foundation.
