On May 17, 2022, delegations of the universities held a video conference. The Russian side was headed by Alexei Yakovlev, Rector of KuzSTU and Elena Malkina, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kuzbass; the Chinese side was represented by Huang Weijiu, Rector of the Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences (Chongqing, China).
Kuzbass State Technical University and Chongqing University of Arts and Science (Chongqing, China) have been cooperating since 2020 in areas of mutual interest - education, science and innovative technologies. The launch of a new educational program in the area of training "Metalworking machines and complexes", the specialization "Processing of materials and technical control" strengthens mutually beneficial cooperation.
The bid for a joint degree undergraduate program of Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences received support from the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. The key rule of the program is that the partner university (KuzSTU) holds classes in at least one third of the academic disciplines and provides training in the Russian language. The format of the 3 + 1 project implies that Chinese students will study at home for three years, and spend the last year of study in Kuzbass, where they will defend their final qualification work.
CUAS places great importance to the joint Chinese-Russian educational project with KuzSTU. It will support its implementation with material and financial resources as much as possible, and actively promote the orderly development of the project, said Huang Weijiu, rector of CUAS.
Today, during the meeting, the parties have signed an agreement on the joint training of bachelors in the field of training "Environmental Protection Engineering" under the "2 + 2" program. Since 2020, a similar agreement between KuzSTU and CUAS is being implemented in the field of training "Electronics and Nanoelectronics", in 2021 the first admission of students took place: they study in China for two years, and then from 2023 they continue their training in the city of Kemerovo. Upon successful completion of the training, Chinese students will receive two diplomas: a bachelor's degree, established by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, issued by KuzSTU and a bachelor's degree, issued by CUAS.
“In the future, we plan to establish a bilateral exchange of students under these programs”, - said Alexei Yakovlev, rector of KuzSTU, and added – “Interacting within the framework of educational programs, we are moving towards scientific projects. Today there are several topics that are being discussed, and I hope that in the future they will be implemented by the joint teams of our universities”.
We also recall that in 2021 KuzSTU and CUAS launched a joint educational project as part of the business program of the VI Eastern Economic Forum. The universities have pooled educational resources to train young professionals in the postgraduate program in mechanical engineering, chemical technology, mining machines and complexes. At the moment, 11 graduate students are studying under this program, scientific supervisors from both the Russian and Chinese sides are assigned to them.
