Mining Students will study blasting operations technology at a new level

A renovated classroom was opened at the Mining Institute of KuzSTU. This renovation was a joint effort of KuzSTU and its industrial partner Kuzbassrazrezugol-Vzryvprom LLC. The students majoring in Mining will study in this classroom the techniques of blasting operations in the extraction of minerals by open and underground methods, as well as in the construction of industrial and civil facilities.

The opening ceremony took place on a significant date - Student's Day. Students and teachers of the Mining Institute, vice-rectors of KuzSTU, as well as representatives of JSC "UK Kuzbassrazrezugol" and LLC "Kuzbassrazrezugol-Vzryvprom" were the first to have entered and studied in the renovated classroom No. 1402.

Every year about 800 thousand tons of explosives are blasted in Kuzbass, which in turn affects the ecological situation. The study of the technology of safe blasting is extremely important for both the coal industry and the social sphere. These are the issues that our students will study in this classroom, - said Yuri Drozdenko, Head of the Department of Physical Processes and Construction Geotechnology of Subsurface Development.

The classroom has everything you need to improve and create calculation methods and techniques for the performance of blasting, to simulate the conditions for its execution and quality. In addition, here the students will learn to assess the impact of blasting on the environment, the surface complex of industrial enterprises and civil facilities.

Also, future miners will be able to undergo training under the BUC program (Blaster’s Uniform Certificate) and in the future receive the right to manage blasting. The knowledge that they acquire will make them required by the mining operations, by research and design organizations that study the energy of an explosion and develop modern explosive materials.

Today, a new time has come for mining, when breakthrough technologies and digitalization of production are actively developing. In addition, the region itself is developing - there are opportunities to popularize the profession, the miners face a huge number of interesting tasks. Our cooperation with KuzSTU is mutually beneficial. Students will be able to get in the renovated classroom the knowledge that is not yet described in textbooks, but already exists at enterprises, - said Stanislav Matva, Deputy Director - Technical Director of JSC "UK Kuzbassrazrezugol".

Kuzbass Polytechnic University has been cooperating with Kuzbassrazrezugol JSC for a long time. According to the director of the Mining Institute Aleksey Khoreshk, together with this company, the university develops science and material and technical base, students consistently do work practice at enterprises, and after graduation they replenish the staff of Kuzbassrazrezugol. In turn, the Kuzbassrazrezugol-Vzryvprom company, which has renovated the classroom, will also take an active part in the educational process of students.

Renovation of the classroom is the first step. The second step will be our direct involvement in the training process. Our experts are ready to participate in the lectures.
