Kemerovo is the capital of the Kemerovo region - Kuzbass and it is an important industrial, economic, transport, scientific, educational and cultural center of Siberia. It was founded in 1701. The population of the city is over 550 thousand people.
Kemerovo is regularly included in the TOP-10 rating of the best cities in Russia in terms of quality of life, compiled by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Kemerovo is a beautiful, modern city full of young people, the largest industrial center of Eastern Russia. The city has a developed cultural, sports and entertainment infrastructure - more than 20 theaters and cinemas, over 20 museums and libraries, a circus, the largest in the region Kuzbass Ice Palace, numerous stadiums and sports grounds. On the territory of the city there are 126 objects of cultural heritage including 4 monuments of federal significance, 47 of regional and 75 of municipal one. These are monuments of architecture and urban planning, monumental art, history and archeology. Among the main attractions one can name Pritomskaya embankment, the monument in the memory of Kuzbass miners, the chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow", the Regional Drama Theater, the Krasnaya Gorka Museum-Reserve, the Puppet Theater, the Munir Mosque, Zero Kilometer, Victory Park named after Zhukov, Museum of Railway Engineering, Kedrovsky open-pit coal mine, Wonder Park, and Botanical Garden.
